Job Responsibilities

  • Manage operations of Patient Care Services across the DCH Health System.
  • Accountability for the management of select programs and projects.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate data and analytics to enhance operations.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of short and long-term strategies.
  • Conduct operational data review, analysis, and report development.
  • Plan, coordinate, monitor and provide support to the Division of Patient Care Services productivity and annual budgets.
  • Collaborate with other leaders across the system to assure resource availability.
  • Analyze recommendations/proposals brought forth by and to the CNO, making recommendations and plans of action.
  • Review and develop data analytic reports concerning core and contingent workforce labor.
  • Work with Human Resource partners to support and manage 3rd party staffing and scheduling platform.
  • Collaborate with nursing and HR to develop and review incentive strategies and goals.
  • Monitor success and financial sustainability of incentive strategies.
  • Plan and coordinate annual budgeting process with Finance Department and Nursing Division.
  • Monitor budget and productivity compliance across Nursing Services.
  • Evaluate departmental and hospital systems focusing on trends in health care.
  • Develop proposals for change, including recommendations and plans of action.
  • Manage Nursing Resource Management areas including Nursing float pool, Staffing, Patient Accommodations, Escort, DACU.
  • Assist the CNO with the development and implementation of nursing recruitment and retention initiatives.
  • Review and evaluate staffing levels, ratios, and deployment for safe patient care.
  • Manage programs and/or projects to enhance department operations.
  • Participate in design, implementation, and evaluation of defined programs.
  • Identify and recommend fiscal, material, and human resource requirements for specific initiatives.
  • Oversee Nursing Operations strategic and operating plan.
  • Prepare written reports and/or proposals for the CNO.
  • Facilitate preparation of materials for presentation to the Vice President for Patient Care.
  • Represent the CNO on committees, special task forces, project teams as designated.
  • Assume operational responsibility for specific projects and/or activities as designated.
  • Take responsibility for own professional development and design a plan to meet learning needs.
  • Maintain performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards.
  • Manage contingent labor volumes and activity.
  • Track and manage all internal staffing initiatives and incentives.
  • Develop and submit weekly or monthly nursing analysis reports.

  • Skills in compliance, planning, organizing, and managing multiple projects/tasks

Preferred Skills

  • Master's degree in Health Related Field or completion of program within 2-4 years
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS preferred

Requirements

Experience: Minimum 4 years progressive experience in a leadership role in a hospital setting.

Education: BSN Required; may consider candidates with BSN completed within 2 years and relevant years of leadership experience.

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse with current Alabama/Compact License
