Job Responsibilities
- Support the facility's philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives.
- Be sensitive to residents' families and respond in an appropriate professional way as the situation requires.
- Assign aides to residents, detailing break times and special duties to be completed.
- Supervise aides in performing their duties by closely checking their work.
- Administer parenteral, intramuscular, and sub-cutaneous injections.
- Make daily rounds to ensure Care Plans are followed and assess resident status.
- Assist in updating Care Plans every 30-90 days based on resident condition.
- Recommend staffing changes regarding aides and work performed.
- Participate in staff meetings to maintain optimal staff performance.
- Administer or supervise treatments prescribed by physicians.
- Receive or place calls to physicians and transcribe orders.
- Administer medications and maintain narcotics reports.
- Review documentation of controlled substances and ensure proper counting.
- Order and chart new medications in the EMR system.
- Direct charting during shifts and conduct monthly evaluations of resident charts.
- Be responsible for the well-being and nursing care of assigned residents.
- Contact families regarding significant changes in resident status.
- Observe residents experiencing acute illness or recovery from surgery.
- Ensure adherence to facility policies by staff under supervision.
- Supervise serving of prescribed diets and fluid intake.
- Prepare incident/accident reports using the EMR system.
- Ensure medical records are forwarded with transfers to other facilities.
- Detect and correct potentially hazardous situations.
- Maintain a clean working environment and ensure proper storage of tools and supplies.
- Follow established infection control and safety precautions.
- Report equipment malfunctions to the ADON.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information.
- Attend nursing department and Care Plan meetings as directed.
- Complete payroll requests and supply sheets timely.
- Follow fire, disaster, safety, infection control, and evacuation protocols.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the DON, ADON, or Administrator.
