Job Responsibilities

  • Provide all personal care services according to the treatment plan assigned by a registered nurse.
  • Measure and record intake and output.
  • Measure and record vital signs, O2 saturation, weight, and height.
  • Position, lift, and turn patients.
  • Apply/utilize special equipment.
  • Assist in the use of bedpan, urinal, or commode.
  • Ambulate patients.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Apply/remove anti-embolism stockings and SCD devices.
  • Remove foley catheters.
  • Provide perineal care and perform vaginal irrigations (non-sterile) and sitz baths.
  • Administer non-medicated enemas.
  • Apply heat and cold.
  • Care for incontinent patients.
  • Provide skin care to immobilized patients.
  • Remove saline locks.
  • Empty colostomy bags.
  • Apply appliances for heat and cold.
  • Perform blood sugar tests.
  • Place patients on cardiac monitors.
  • Set up oxygen equipment.
  • Feed patients.
  • Collect, label, and transport lab specimens.
  • Accurately document care provided according to policies and procedures.
  • Ensure safety principles are applied during care, such as ambulation and patient transfers.
  • Participate in economical utilization of supplies and maintenance of clean, safe equipment and nursing units.
  • Perform basic care requirements such as rounding, using AIDET, and responding to patient needs promptly.
  • Assist in performance improvement activities by serving on PI teams as warranted.

  • Ability to work in groups and perform under time pressure

Preferred Skills

  • Previous patient care experience
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
  • Completion of HOSA program

Requirements

Experience: Previous patient care experience preferred.

Education: High school diploma or GED required.
