Job Responsibilities
- Delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services.
- Assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with skills/training and needs of the Department.
- Maintains a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment.
- Participates in the implementation of nursing care plans by performing direct and indirect patient care under supervision.
- Obtains and records initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care.
- Documents observations and reports them to the RN/Team Leader.
- Assists with mobility, including regular turning, positioning, and ambulating patients.
- Provides non-medicated support care, such as dressing changes and application of heat/ice.
- Performs non-medicated support tasks, such as oral suctioning and catheterization.
- Collects specimens for diagnostic or waived tests and ensures accuracy of labels.
- Retrieves medication from pharmacy and delivers to licensed staff member.
- Assists with patient preparation for surgery or other procedures.
- Aids patients with activities of daily living.
- Performs hourly rounding and responds to patient requests.
- Follows patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols.
- Prepares and maintains clean patient rooms.
- Identifies learning needs and barriers of patients/families.
- Translates medical terminology for better understanding by patients/families.
- Educates on healthy diet, exercise, and self-management post-discharge.
- Assists with post-mortem care.
- Sets up, removes, and cleans equipment, and identifies malfunctioning equipment.
- Performs clerical work as needed, including greeting customers and answering phones.
- Maintains charts and documentation accurately for each patient.
