Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement education plans for behavioral health staff.
- Lead new hire orientation from a clinical perspective.
- Facilitate ongoing training programs and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Model best practices and engage staff in evidence-based education.
- Implement infection prevention protocols and train staff on infection control measures.
- Monitor compliance to reduce the risk of infectious outbreaks.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance of infections and maintain accurate records.
- Compile and present Infection Reports to Safety/Infection Control Committee.
- Inspect environment and observe personnel activities for infection hazards.
- Investigate exposure incidents and oversee post-exposure evaluations.
- Develop and provide in-service programs on infection prevention.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to develop educational materials
- Knowledge of infection control protocols
- Experience in clinical education
Preferred Skills
- Certification as an NPD Practitioner
- Clinical certification from American Nurse Credentialing Center
Requirements
Experience: 5+ years of experience as a registered nurse strongly preferred; 3 years of registered nurse experience required; 2 years of behavioral health experience as an RN required; 1+ years in infection control preferred.
Education: Master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration, Education or other clinical field preferred; Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.
License & Certification:
- Current state license as a registered nurse
- Certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required
