Job Responsibilities

  • Perform complex practical nursing care with precision and efficiency, in accordance with Medical Center policy and procedure and legal/ethical responsibilities.
  • Provide safe and individualized nursing care to patients with changing complex physiological and/or emotional needs.
  • Act urgently if needed and report changes in patient's condition and significant observations to an appropriate team member promptly.
  • Assist with patient and family teaching under the supervision of the registered nurse.
  • Participate in the clinic process by gathering data as assigned by the RN and communicating it appropriately.
  • Perform a full range of complex treatments and procedures according to Medical Center policy/procedures.
  • Review and complete medications orders, preparing, administering and documenting medications properly.
  • Establish constructive interpersonal relationships with patients, families, and other staff.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately in emergency situations according to established procedures.
  • Fully participate as a member of the specialty clinic team in promoting patient wellness.
  • Use the computer to access and enter patient information accurately.
  • Maintain a safe and clean patient environment, including light housekeeping duties and care of reusable medical equipment.
  • Present in-services as learning needs are identified.
  • Participate in work groups and committees supporting organizational goals.

Requirements

Experience: At least one year of qualifying experience at the GS-5 level or equivalent.

Education: Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency.

License & Certification:

  • Active, full, current and unrestricted licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth.
