Job Responsibilities
- Engages in activities constituting the practice of medicine in collaboration with and under the medical direction, clinical guidance and supervision of a licensed physician.
- Functions primarily within the main hospital when work volumes are high.
- Performs duties in clinics when hospital work volumes are low.
- Acts as a first assistant in the operating room (OR) when needed.
- Collaborates with OR staff to develop knowledge, skill, and critical thinking necessary for safe operations.
- Conducts hospital rounds.
- Assists with OR orders and checks.
- Handles Urgent Care OR transfers.
- Performs hospital and emergency department consults.
- Runs clinics independently or under physician supervision.
- Reports to supervising physician(s) and designated manager.
- Performs a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient patient care activities and accommodative services.
- Effectively communicates with other members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in patient and staff education.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Current State license as an APRN or PA with specialization in Family or Pediatrics.
- Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification for PA.
- Current certification from the Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board (ONCB) preferred for Nurse Practitioners.
- CPR training (must be obtained within 45 days of hire).
- PALS training (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).
Preferred Skills
- Two to three years of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
- Two to three years of Pediatric experience preferred.
- Previous OR experience preferred.
Requirements
Experience: Two to three years of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner experience preferred; Two to three years of Pediatric experience preferred.
Education: Completed diploma (or equivalent) required.
License & Certification:
- State license as an APRN or PA.
- NCCPA certification for PAs.
- ONCB certification for Nurse Practitioners preferred.
Schedule:
- Ability to travel locally between hospital and clinics.
