Job Responsibilities

Engages in activities constituting the practice of medicine in collaboration with and under the medical direction, clinical guidance and supervision of a licensed physician.
Functions primarily within the main hospital when work volumes are high.
Performs duties in clinics when hospital work volumes are low.
Acts as a first assistant in the operating room (OR) when needed.
Collaborates with OR staff to develop knowledge, skill, and critical thinking necessary for safe operations.
Conducts hospital rounds.
Assists with OR orders and checks.
Handles Urgent Care OR transfers.
Performs hospital and emergency department consults.
Runs clinics independently or under physician supervision.
Reports to supervising physician(s) and designated manager.
Performs a wide variety of inpatient and outpatient patient care activities and accommodative services.
Effectively communicates with other members of the healthcare team.
Demonstrates excellence in practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in patient and staff education.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Core Skills

Current State license as an APRN or PA with specialization in Family or Pediatrics.
Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification for PA.
Current certification from the Orthopaedic Nurses Certification Board (ONCB) preferred for Nurse Practitioners.
CPR training (must be obtained within 45 days of hire).
PALS training (must be obtained within 90 days of hire).

Preferred Skills

Two to three years of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner experience preferred.
Two to three years of Pediatric experience preferred.
Previous OR experience preferred.

Requirements

Experience: Two to three years of Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner experience preferred; Two to three years of Pediatric experience preferred.

Education: Completed diploma (or equivalent) required.

License & Certification:

State license as an APRN or PA.
NCCPA certification for PAs.
ONCB certification for Nurse Practitioners preferred.

Schedule:

Ability to travel locally between hospital and clinics.
