Job Responsibilities

  • Performs systematic assessment/data collection focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
  • Formulates a goal-directed plan of care.
  • Implements care in a thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
  • Establishes priorities for patient care based on needs and available resources.
  • Identifies patient/family learning needs and acts to meet them.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient/family rights and diverse needs.
  • Coordinates care for patients and patient populations.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  • Delegates and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care given by healthcare team members.
  • Utilizes effective communication methods and skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety principles within the institution.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency situations following protocols.
  • Participates in staff development activities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality.
  • Participates in unit and Department Performance Improvement activities.
  • Identifies and solves problems effectively.
  • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions.
  • Provides data for staffing decisions and demonstrates flexibility in staffing issues.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in using computers and electronic medical record systems.
  • Documents patient care and unit activities in a timely manner.
  • May train in specialty areas and is required to obtain certifications within 6 months.

Requirements

Experience: Six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of orientation in the KP New Graduate/Residency Training Program.

Education: High School Diploma/GED and graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 6 months of hire)
  • Basic Life Support
