Job Responsibilities

  • Provides professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process according to established standards of care, policies, and procedures.
  • Serves as a leader of the health care team; delegates tasks appropriately and demonstrates accountability.
  • Understands own and team members' scope of practice and escalates issues as needed.
  • Demonstrates professional and supportive behavior, champions new ideas, and leads others through the change process.
  • Utilizes communication strategies including chain of command and issue escalation.
  • Participates in problem identification and resolution.
  • Mentors, orients, and coaches others in unit specific operations and patient care activities.
  • Shares responsibility and authority with subordinates and holds them accountable for performance.
  • Demonstrates ability to problem solve with other departments.
  • Prioritizes, delegates, and supervises work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
  • Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Develops and contributes to individualized plans of care based on assessments.
  • Ensures multidisciplinary planning, consultation, and education are reflected in care plans.
  • Monitors patients' progress based on care plans and revises plans as needed.
  • Ensures effective discharge planning and patient/family education.
  • Ensures patient safety regarding medications, falls, and infections.
  • Discusses patient findings and outcomes with the healthcare team.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Adheres to workplace safety principles and maintains a safe environment.
  • Practices customer service standards and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Organizes work to minimize overtime and utilizes resources effectively.

Requirements

Experience: 1 year recent full-time equivalent experience in Critical Care or successful completion of a KP Critical Care course or approved equivalent within prior 12 months.

Education:

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support

Schedule:

  • 12-hour shift options from 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM or 8-hour backup from 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM.
