Job Responsibilities
- Assist in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Set up and operate hemodialysis machines.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
- Support the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
- Provide patient education on adequacy measures including Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC), Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP), and Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM).
- Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being since their last treatment.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform vascular access cannulation.
- Administer heparin as delegated or allowed by state law.
- Obtain pre and post treatment vital signs and weight.
- Initiate and monitor dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
- Document significant patient information and report changes in patient condition to the nurse or supervisor.
- Ensure all blood spills are immediately cleaned according to facility policy.
- Assist in training of direct patient care staff under the supervision of a nurse.
- Complete and document ongoing participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

- Patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility
- Ability to operate hemodialysis machines
- Knowledge of infection control practices
- Effective communication skills

- Experience with dialysis treatment processes
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Requirements
Experience: Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility preferred.
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
License & Certification:
- Must meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements.
- CPR certification.
