Job Responsibilities
- Performs ongoing systematic assessment/data collection focusing on various patient aspects including physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
- Formulates a goal-directed plan of care when appropriate.
- Implements patient care in a thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
- Establishes patient care priorities based on essential needs and available unit resources.
- Identifies patient/family learning needs and acts to meet them.
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient/family rights and diverse needs.
- Provides/coordinates care for patients and patient populations.
- Establishes effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team, patients, and families.
- Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided by team members.
- Utilizes effective communication methods and skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge and applies safety principles as identified within the institution.
- Performs efficiently in emergency patient care situations, following established protocols.
- Demonstrates accountability for personal professional practice.
- Participates in staff development activities for unit and department personnel.
- Documents patient care and unit activities accurately and promptly.
- Participates in nursing research activities as requested.
- Identifies and effectively solves problems.
- Demonstrates a service-oriented philosophy in all interactions.
- Provides data for staffing decisions and demonstrates flexibility in staffing issues.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computer and telecommunication modalities.
- Performs other related duties as necessary.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English
- Good interpersonal skills
- Basic Arrhythmia recognition skills
Preferred Skills
- Training in chemotherapy, neurosurgery, telemetry, or other specialties
- Demonstrated commitment to service orientation
Requirements
Experience: Six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of orientation in the KP New Graduate/Residency Training Program.
Education: High School Diploma/GED, Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
License & Certification:
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Basic Life Support
