Job Responsibilities

  • Performs ongoing systematic assessment/data collection focusing on various patient aspects including physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
  • Formulates a goal-directed plan of care when appropriate.
  • Implements patient care in a thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
  • Establishes patient care priorities based on essential needs and available unit resources.
  • Identifies patient/family learning needs and acts to meet them.
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient/family rights and diverse needs.
  • Provides/coordinates care for patients and patient populations.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with members of the healthcare team, patients, and families.
  • Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of care provided by team members.
  • Utilizes effective communication methods and skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and applies safety principles as identified within the institution.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency patient care situations, following established protocols.
  • Demonstrates accountability for personal professional practice.
  • Participates in staff development activities for unit and department personnel.
  • Documents patient care and unit activities accurately and promptly.
  • Participates in nursing research activities as requested.
  • Identifies and effectively solves problems.
  • Demonstrates a service-oriented philosophy in all interactions.
  • Provides data for staffing decisions and demonstrates flexibility in staffing issues.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in computer and telecommunication modalities.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Basic Arrhythmia recognition skills

Preferred Skills

  • Training in chemotherapy, neurosurgery, telemetry, or other specialties
  • Demonstrated commitment to service orientation

Requirements

Experience: Six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of orientation in the KP New Graduate/Residency Training Program.

Education: High School Diploma/GED, Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of hire
  • Basic Life Support
