Job Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care for same-day surgeries in a fast-paced unit.
- Engage in Pre-Op duties, including assistance with regional nerve blocks, initiation and monitoring of IVs, and providing anesthesia support.
- Deliver pre-operative instructions and conduct patient assessments.
- Oversee PACU phase 1 and 2 recovery from anesthesia post-operatively.
- Provide reports to receiving inpatient units and update patients' families.
- Offer comprehensive discharge education.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Current Connecticut registered nurse licensure
- Experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) nursing
- BLS or CPR certification
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
- ACLS and PALS certification
- Experience in ICU or Emergency Room nursing
Requirements
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in PACU nursing is required; 2 or more years in ICU or Emergency Room nursing experience is preferred.
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
License & Certification:
- Current Connecticut registered nurse licensure
- BLS or CPR certification
Schedule:
- Full-Time - 40 hours/week
- Monday thru Friday, no weekend or holiday commitment
- Five 8-hour varying shifts from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm
- Minimal on-call requirement, frequency will be once per 7-week schedule
