Job Responsibilities
- Performs systematic assessment/data collection focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
- Formulates a goal-directed plan of care.
- Implements care in a thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
- Establishes priorities for patient care based on needs and available resources.
- Identifies patient/family learning needs and acts to meet them.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to patient/family rights and diverse needs.
- Coordinates care for patients and patient populations.
- Establishes effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
- Delegates and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
- Evaluates effectiveness of care given by healthcare team members.
- Utilizes effective communication methods and skills.
- Demonstrates knowledge of safety principles within the institution.
- Performs efficiently in emergency situations following protocols.
- Participates in staff development activities.
- Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality.
- Participates in unit and Department Performance Improvement activities.

- Provides data for staffing decisions and demonstrates flexibility in staffing issues.
- Demonstrates proficiency in using computers and electronic medical record systems.
- Documents patient care and unit activities in a timely manner.
- May train in specialty areas and is required to obtain certifications within 6 months.

Requirements
Experience: Six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of orientation in the KP New Graduate/Residency Training Program.
Education: High School Diploma/GED and graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
License & Certification:
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 6 months of hire)
- Basic Life Support
