Job Responsibilities
- Manage clinical nursing practice and patient care in the nursing unit.
- Participate in strategic planning of the assigned nursing unit, including human resources and material management.
- Incorporate strategic goals into daily practice on assigned units.
- Ensure professional practice in the management of patient care within a framework that includes nursing practice, education, and research.
- Assure evidence-based practice.
- Continuously assess patient, family, and community needs promoting optimal outcomes through the nursing process.
- Promote management integrity and efficiency through positive supportive work relationships, professional leadership, accountability, effective communication, and resolution skills.
- Manage nursing unit's performance improvement program.
- Promote ongoing improvement and evaluation of practice standards and patient outcome.
- Provide a positive environment for employee growth and development with open communication throughout the system.
- Manage fiscal resources with ongoing awareness of healthcare policies and economics affecting nursing practice and patient care.
- Complete payroll activities as required.
- Continuously assess the need for and recommend changes in staffing standards according to staff utilization reports.
- Ensure institutional compliance with professional, regulatory, and government standards of care.
- Facilitate cooperative and collaborative relationships among disciplines/department for effective quality patient care delivery.
- Oversee QAPI (Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement) initiatives as required by CMS for SNFs.
- Promote professional excellence and personal well-being of staff and self.
- Support systematic investigation to advance nursing practice.
- Coordinate all employee disciplinary actions with Human Resources and the CNO.
- Provide MDS oversight and support for accurate assessment and reimbursement.
- Participate actively in interdisciplinary care planning (IDT).
- Coordinate staffing to ensure compliance with annual CDPH and CMS surveys.
- Meet staffing standards per Title 22 and CDPH guidelines.
- Enhance family communication and resident rights oversight.

Requirements
Experience: Two years' clinical experience within the past five years and two years' experience in leadership and managerial skills.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred.
License & Certification:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- ACLS/PALS if handling higher acuity or subacute cases
