Job Responsibilities
- Monitor critically ill and unstable patients following extensive injury, surgery, or life-threatening disease.
- Take report from a nursing teammate at the beginning of each shift.
- Provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan.
- Assist a physician with procedures such as chest tube or central line placement.
- Provide wound care and administer medications.
- Continuously monitor patients throughout the shift.
- Act as an advocate for patients' best interests.
- Assess, plan, and implement nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
- Anticipate, identify, and respond to informational and emotional needs of patients and families.
- Guide and direct healthcare personnel in caring for patients.
- Maintain knowledge of equipment setup, maintenance, and use.
- Utilize safeguards such as IV pump drug library and monitor alarms.
- Initiate emergency support measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- Assist with patient care duties and tasks.
