Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of nursing services and safe patient care on a 24-hour basis.
  • Establish, implement, and maintain patient care and service standards.
  • Hold staff accountable for providing high-quality care in compliance with applicable standards.
  • Work with Nursing Leadership to develop strategic/business plans for integrated services.
  • Manage continuous improvement of clinical practices, services, and operations.
  • Develop and monitor departmental budgets.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve care.
  • Determine appropriate staff mix and develop processes for hiring, training, and competency maintenance.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures.
  • Manage human resource and risk management issues.
  • Promote a culture of safety in organizational practice.
  • Participate in leadership committees and forums at the Medical Center, Regional, and National levels.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Clinical nursing experience (minimum five years)
  • Management, supervisory or leadership experience (minimum three years)
  • Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act and TJC regulations
  • Interpersonal and management skills
  • Ability to provide culturally sensitive service

Preferred Skills

  • Previous experience with electronic medical records
  • Master's degree
  • National Certification in specialty

Requirements

Experience: Minimum five years of clinical nursing experience, including three years of leadership experience.

Education: Academic degree in nursing required (bachelor's or master's degree).

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support

Schedule:

  • Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment
