Job Responsibilities
- Help with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations.
- Work in outpatient situations independently or as part of a treatment team alongside Nephrologists.
- Educate patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments.
- Assess risk factors.
- Perform history and physicals.
- Order diagnostic and therapeutic tests/studies.
- Initiate consults and referrals.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with RMKC Policy and state regulations.
- Evaluate and assess patients in outpatient clinic visits, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis visits.
- Utilize professional skills in interviewing, assessment, evaluation, identification, and implementation of interventions/treatment plans based on the specific needs of each patient.
- Notify the supervising physician regarding any unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct physician consultation.
- Supervise and/or coordinate the activities of patient care and support staff within the practice.
- Provide health education to patients, families, and/or community health practitioners and groups.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
- May perform clinical research related to specific operations.
- Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements
Experience:
Education: Must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job
License & Certification:
- Current, valid State of Alaska Medical Licenses (NP or PA-C)
- Active DEA license
- Full and current certification as a nurse practitioner from AANP or ANCC, or PA-C certified by NCCPA
Schedule:
- Some travel required - up to 5-7 days per month with overnight stays required.
