Job Responsibilities

Respond to all code stroke events or stroke-related neurology consult requests throughout the hospital.
Actively discuss treatment plans with the attending physician on call.
Stay with the patient until they are medically stable.
Order appropriate medications, diagnostic testing, and treatments.
Communicate diagnostic and treatment information to patients and their families.
Maintain ongoing communication with other provider teams involved in patient care.
Participate in quality/process improvement meetings and projects.
Attend weekly/monthly/quarterly stroke division meetings.
Work daily with a large multi-disciplinary team to provide ongoing care for a wide variety of neurology patients.
Respond to pages from nursing staff and other medical teams regarding neurology patients.

Requirements

Experience:

Education: Master's degree in Nursing with an Acute Care NP certification, or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

License & Certification:

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) from the Alabama Board of Nursing
Licensed Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required or to be obtained within 30 days of employment
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required depending on the unit
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification may be required depending on the unit

Schedule:

Full-time benefitted
Evening shifts (2pm-10pm)
Weekends and holidays required
No on-call time
