Job Title: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - UAB Kidney/Pancreas Transplant
Position: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - UAB Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Team
Job Type: Full Time
Pay: $2,000 annual CME allowance
Shift: 4-10hr shifts per week (7a-5p), weekends and holidays required

Job Responsibilities
- Provide medical care and treatment to surgical patients under supervision of collaborating physician.
- Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals appropriate for age-specific patient needs.
- Plan and coordinate healthcare education for patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
- Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data.
- Perform and/or assist with procedures per collaborative agreement.
- Document patient assessments, care plans, and care provided.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
- Assist in orientation and training of new clinical personnel.
- Conduct workshops, in-service training, and distribute educational materials.
- Serve as an expert clinical resource to staff and patients.
- Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Preferred Skills
- Three years previous transplant or APP experience.
Requirements
Experience: Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Education: Master's degree in Nursing with Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
License & Certification:
- Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Schedule:
- 4-10hr shifts per week (7a-5p), weekends and holidays required.
