Job Title: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - UAB Kidney/Pancreas Transplant

Position: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - UAB Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Team

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $2,000 annual CME allowance

Shift: 4-10hr shifts per week (7a-5p), weekends and holidays required

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care and treatment to surgical patients under supervision of collaborating physician.
  • Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals appropriate for age-specific patient needs.
  • Plan and coordinate healthcare education for patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
  • Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data.
  • Perform and/or assist with procedures per collaborative agreement.
  • Document patient assessments, care plans, and care provided.
  • Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
  • Assist in orientation and training of new clinical personnel.
  • Conduct workshops, in-service training, and distribute educational materials.
  • Serve as an expert clinical resource to staff and patients.
  • Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Preferred Skills

  • Three years previous transplant or APP experience.

Requirements

Experience: Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Education: Master's degree in Nursing with Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

License & Certification:

  • Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).

Schedule:

  • 4-10hr shifts per week (7a-5p), weekends and holidays required.
