Job Title: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - UAB Kidney/Pancreas Transplant

Position: Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - UAB Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Team

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $2,000 annual CME allowance

Shift: 4-10hr shifts per week (7a-5p), weekends and holidays required

Job Responsibilities

Provide medical care and treatment to surgical patients under supervision of collaborating physician.
Coordinate plan of care, discharge, and specialty referrals appropriate for age-specific patient needs.
Plan and coordinate healthcare education for patients, families, and healthcare providers.
Perform comprehensive physical examinations and assessments.
Interpret, analyze, and evaluate patient’s medical record and social data.
Perform and/or assist with procedures per collaborative agreement.
Document patient assessments, care plans, and care provided.
Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Participate in performance and quality improvement activities.
Assist in orientation and training of new clinical personnel.
Conduct workshops, in-service training, and distribute educational materials.
Serve as an expert clinical resource to staff and patients.
Ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Preferred Skills

Three years previous transplant or APP experience.

Requirements

Experience: Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Education: Master's degree in Nursing with Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification or graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.

License & Certification:

Currently certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Specialty by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
Licensed as a Physician Assistant by the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners with certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA).
