Job Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care for residents of all ages in long term care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of nursing principles relevant to the clinical setting.
- Perform testing to evaluate data reflective of the resident's status.
- Recognize problems, recommend solutions, and respond effectively in emergencies.
- Ensure the health, comfort, and safety of residents.
- Contribute to the assessment of residents and administer medications or treatments as ordered.
- Provide technical support to healthcare professionals as needed.
- Document resident interactions and outcomes related to resident care.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with residents, healthcare providers, and the public.
- Counsel residents and families on prevention and treatment plans as directed.
- Develop self-care programs for residents based on education principles.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
- Nursing principles knowledge
- Ability to perform IV therapy (if required)
- Effective communication skills
- Confidentiality maintenance
Preferred Skills
- Associate degree in practical nursing
- Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary care team
- Counseling skills for resident education
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility or pre-licensure clinical experience.
Education: Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program; Associate degree preferred.
License & Certification:
- Current unencumbered LPN license with State Nursing board
- IV therapy certification (if applicable)
Schedule:
- Full-time schedule with 36 hours per week
