Job Responsibilities

Perform clinical rounds for surveillance to observe and verify status of client care and treatment.
Implement and train staff on correct procedures and standards of care.
Observe environmental factors impacting infection control and ensure compliance.
Assess risk of occupational exposures to infectious diseases.
Develop immunization screening programs and apply work restrictions related to communicable diseases.
Investigate outbreaks of infections and assess for cross-contamination.
Evaluate data for causes of infection outbreaks.
Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies through timely reporting.
Communicate and follow up on reported infections and act as a liaison to regulatory agencies.
Maintain all required documentation for regulatory offices.
Complete clinical assessments for appropriateness of client care regarding infection control.
Review progress notes to ensure isolation protocols are followed.
Develop, implement, and provide training on infection control safety and compliance.
Establish therapeutic relationships with members served.
Participate in community meetings and multidisciplinary team meetings.
Review and maintain the accuracy and quality of medical records documentation.
Demonstrate knowledge of crisis management and intervention.
Monitor staff performance and provide input based on observations.
Consult on the selection and evaluation of medical equipment that may affect infection risks.
Monitor findings from patient care quality/safety assessment activities.
Participate in Emergency Preparedness activities related to infection control.

Eligible for CDC Infection Prevention Certification
Valid CPR/BLS certificate
