Job Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the hospital's journey to achieve and maintain Magnet® designation.
- Serve as the primary liaison with the ANCC, managing all Magnet-related documentation, applications, and site visits.
- Ensure adherence to Magnet Model components including transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge and innovations, and empirical quality outcomes.
- Conduct gap analyses and establish baseline measurements to assess alignment with Magnet principles.
- Develop action plans to address deficiencies and ensure Magnet readiness.
- Work with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) to integrate Magnet principles into the hospital's strategic plan.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams to execute Magnet initiatives and foster a culture of nursing excellence.
- Establish and oversee nursing councils to support shared governance and professional practice.
- Develop a timeline for Magnet designation and re-designation, ensuring key milestones are met.
- Provide education and training on Magnet standards, shared governance, and evidence-based nursing practice.
- Engage and mentor nurses at all levels in research, professional development, and certification initiatives.
- Encourage and facilitate staff nurse participation in Magnet-related projects and decision-making.
- Collect, analyze, and report nursing-sensitive quality indicators and patient outcome data.
- Maintain tracking systems for Magnet Recognition Program Standards of Care and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of Magnet documentation, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Organize and coordinate ANCC site visits and all associated communications.
- Partner with nursing leadership, clinical and non-clinical departments, and staff nurses for Magnet integration.
- Communicate progress, updates, and expectations regarding Magnet status to hospital executives, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Represent the hospital in local, regional, and national nursing excellence initiatives.
- Adhere to hospital policies, HIPAA regulations, and infection control guidelines.
- Maintain reliable attendance, complete mandatory training, and uphold Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy.
- Serve as a back-up leader to the CNO and AVP of Nursing as needed.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support nursing excellence and Magnet sustainability.

Requirements
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years nursing experience and progressive management experience.
Education: BSN required; MSN preferred.
License & Certification:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in NY
