Job Responsibilities
- Provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).
- Delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of residents as per care plan.
- Assists residents with bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs.
- Provides psychosocial support and personal care to assigned residents.
- Assists residents in transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct transfer techniques.
- Provides range of motion and passive exercises.
- Completes tasks related to food preparation and creates a positive dining experience for residents.
- Aids providers and nursing staff members with procedures as needed.
- Documents resident interactions and outcomes related to care, behavior, activity, and dietary.
- Communicates resident's condition and care concerns to the charge nurse.
- Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs.
- Provides housekeeping and laundry services to keep living areas clean.
- Assists with documentation for wellness and recreational programs and encourages resident participation.
- May participate in departmental and organization committees as needed.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care
- Ability to follow infection prevention and control policies
- Knowledge of age-appropriate care
Preferred Skills
- Experience with food preparation and dining services
- Communication skills for documenting and relaying resident concerns
Requirements
Experience: Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
Education: High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
License & Certification:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing or state certified within four months of hire.
