Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and communicate a global picture of the Medical Center capacity at all times.
  • Act as central contact for discussions related to bed management and staffing.
  • Collaborate and coordinate patient flow (internal and external) using clinical knowledge to ensure patient safety and appropriateness.
  • Maintain knowledge about all units and typical patient populations.
  • Utilize nursing resources to balance staff and patient acuity considering complexity and other patient and family needs.
  • Function as an educator, consultant, case manager, and researcher.
  • Monitor clinical care in collaboration with medical and nursing staff.
  • Serve as a role model, patient advocate, change agent, leader, and cost-effective practitioner.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members regarding nursing care.
  • Encourage team members to engage as part of the patient services team and the Medical Center.
  • Promote and support networking within the unit and organization.
  • Respond to urgent needs of the Medical Center and work with the team to resolve issues.
  • Answer the Transfer Line phone timely and courteously, communicating professionally.
  • Provide interactive clinical communication with callers and collaborate closely with physicians and other staff.
  • Stay up to date with KDMC services, operational hours, resources, disease knowledge, procedures, diagnostics, treatments, and medications.
  • Participate in data collection and interpret information to improve processes.

Requirements

Experience: Five years nursing experience

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing for Registered Nurses

License & Certification:

  • Active RN license in the State of Kentucky or other NLC state with multistate privileges
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
