Job Responsibilities
- Assist in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Support quality enhancement and participate in process improvement activities.
- Provide patient-specific detailed education regarding dialysis and disease processes.
- Welcome assigned patients and check their wellbeing.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform vascular access cannulation.
- Obtain pre and post treatment vital signs and weight.
- Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
- Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy.
- Document all relevant treatment functions and patient care activities.
- Conduct safety checks on machines and report any concerns.
- Assist in training direct patient care staff.
- Maintain environmental integrity and cleanliness.
- Support infection control practices and participate in related education.
- Follow newly admitted patients through their first four weeks of dialysis.
- Coordinate transitional care and ensure patient understanding of treatment options.
- Prepare initial patient charts and collect laboratory specimens.

- Ability to operate hemodialysis machines
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in a hospital setting
- Patient education skills
- Certification in CPR
Requirements
Experience: Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
License & Certification:
- Meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements.
