Supports, evaluates, prioritizes, and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift.
Serves as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence.
Makes assignments for staff to meet patient care needs and for incoming patients.
Makes patient assignments and delegates unit specific task assignments.
Monitors effectiveness and completion of unit assignments.
Evaluates staffing by considering mix of caregivers, patient volumes, patient acuity, and staff availability.
Demonstrates timely and effective communication skills with team members.
Seeks to proactively improve quality of services and patient care outcomes.
Serves as unit champion and resource for quality and patient safety initiatives.
Facilitates and participates in service recovery efforts during the shift.
Improves job performance of staff by assisting in personal and professional development.
Provides professional/technical/clinical/coaching support for nursing associates.
Assists with quality projects and staff annual performance evaluations.
Troubleshoots issues requiring immediate resolution and informs nurse manager/director.
Takes patient care assignment on shifts not in clinical lead/charge nurse role.
Serves as representative for unit or nursing department on committees as assigned.
Reinforces the organization vision, mission, and values through role model behavior.

Experience: Must have functioned in an RN role for a minimum of 1 year clinical experience required; 1 year of ICU experience required

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing

License & Certification:

Valid current Arizona Nursing License
Required in area of clinical specialty within 3 years from ANCC or other approved credentialing entity
