Job Responsibilities

Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessments and input from the patient’s family.
Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession.
Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, and current standards of practice to provide quality patient care.
Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identifying learning needs and initiating strategies to meet them.
Identifies recurring clinical practice and unit problems and participates in problem solving and resolution.
In collaboration with Patient Care Manager/Director/CNCII, assists with unit-based quality/research initiatives and provides feedback and education to staff.
Maintains overall knowledge of all patients’ status to assist nursing and medical team members and directs workflow.
Assumes role of Charge Nurse as assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools.
Acts as a resource for unit personnel and aids in resolving questions related to policy, standards, and procedures.
Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict management, and customer service skills as a role model and problem solver.
Recognizes and responds to patient care issues providing direction, feedback, and follow-up to staff and healthcare team members.
Procures necessary clinical supplies and equipment and follows up on repairs/maintenance as needed.
Contributes feedback to performance evaluation of unit personnel.
Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Required Skills

Core Skills

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois
One year of professional nursing experience
BSN (or higher) from an accredited nursing program
Current BLS/CPR and/or required unit specific certifications
Two years of ambulatory nursing experience
