Job Responsibilities
- Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on ongoing assessments and input from the patient’s family.
- Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession.
- Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, and current standards of practice to provide quality patient care.
- Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identifying learning needs and initiating strategies to meet them.
- Identifies recurring clinical practice and unit problems and participates in problem solving and resolution.
- In collaboration with Patient Care Manager/Director/CNCII, assists with unit-based quality/research initiatives and provides feedback and education to staff.
- Maintains overall knowledge of all patients’ status to assist nursing and medical team members and directs workflow.
- Assumes role of Charge Nurse as assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools.
- Acts as a resource for unit personnel and aids in resolving questions related to policy, standards, and procedures.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, conflict management, and customer service skills as a role model and problem solver.
- Recognizes and responds to patient care issues providing direction, feedback, and follow-up to staff and healthcare team members.
- Procures necessary clinical supplies and equipment and follows up on repairs/maintenance as needed.
- Contributes feedback to performance evaluation of unit personnel.
- Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois
- One year of professional nursing experience
- BSN (or higher) from an accredited nursing program
- Current BLS/CPR and/or required unit specific certifications
- Two years of ambulatory nursing experience
