Job Responsibilities
- Perform assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
- Formulate a goal-directed plan of care when and where appropriate.
- Implement care in a thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
- Establish priorities based on essential patient needs and available unit resources.
- Identify patient/family learning needs and act to meet them.
- Demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to patient/family rights and age-specific needs.
- Provide/coordinate care for patients/patient populations.
- Establish effective working relationships with team members, patients, and families.
- Acknowledge staff rights and cultural and ethical beliefs.
- Delegate appropriately and coordinate duties of healthcare team members.
- Evaluate effectiveness of care given by healthcare team members.
- Utilize effective communication methods and skills, following lines of authority.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and apply safety principles as identified within the institution.

- Formulate a goal-directed plan of care prioritized based on nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
- Identify patient/family learning needs and implement appropriate measures.
- Demonstrate sound knowledge base in the care of a designated patient population.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of RN scope of practice
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English
- Good interpersonal skills
- Basic arrhythmia recognition skills
Preferred Skills
- Training in chemotherapy, neurosurgery, telemetry, or other specialties
- Demonstrated commitment to service orientation
Requirements
Experience: Six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of orientation in the KP New Graduate/Residency Training Program.
Education: High School Diploma/GED and graduation from an accredited registered nursing program.
License & Certification:
- Registered Nurse License (California)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of hire
- Basic Life Support
