Job Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day nursing activities in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
- Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing employees in accordance with the resident care plan and nursing regulations.
- Implement and maintain an effective orientation program for new employees.
- Determine and inform staff of work/resident assignments for the shift.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents according to the doctors' orders.
- Inform employees of new admissions.
- Greet new admissions and escort them to their rooms.
- Participate in the assessment and care planning process, communicating observed information during shifts.
- Meet with residents or family members as necessary and report issues to the Director of Nursing Services/Assistant Director of Nursing Services.
- Encourage residents and families to participate in the development and review of care plans.
- Make daily rounds and report findings to the Director of Nursing Services/Clinical Services Administrator.
- Document all interventions and activities according to policy and regulations.
- Communicate with the physician and nursing management about the status of residents and shift activities.
- Schedule physician visits as necessary.
- Prepare and administer medication as ordered by the physician.
- Report discrepancies concerning physicians' orders for patient care.
- Inform the Director of Nursing Services/Clinical Services Administrator of drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on the shift.
- Report medication, supply, and equipment needs to nursing management.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities including special projects as assigned.

Requirements
Experience: Three (3) years experience in a long-term care facility or nursing home preferred.
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse in Alabama.
License & Certification:
- Registered Nurse (RN) License
- CPR certification within thirty (30) days of employment
