Job Responsibilities
- Provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families.
- Delegate and assign care delivery processes to team members, ensuring tasks are completed.
- Assess appropriateness of physician orders and consult with physicians when necessary.
- Document care accurately per department guidelines.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families, adapting to social/cultural variables.
- Advocate for patients' needs and effectively communicate between patients and healthcare providers.
- Support and provide feedback to coworkers and assist in their development.
- Provide age-appropriate education to facilitate recovery, self-care, and health maintenance.
- Coordinate discharge planning in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Utilize critical thinking and the nursing process to manage patient care effectively.
- Act as a preceptor for new nurses and students, guiding them in nursing practices.
- Recognize and manage inconsistencies in patient care and potential complications.
