Job Responsibilities

Provide education to patients and families on the disease process, treatment, diagnostic testing, and patient responsibilities involving treatment.
Perform initial assessments and reassessments with appropriate documentation.
Notify MD of any abnormal findings.
Obtain laboratory samples per policy, such as wound cultures.
Assess wounds and apply ordered dressings per policy, such as Una Boots, Combiderm, Aquacel, etc.
Document all treatments on appropriate forms/computer.
Coordinate patient schedule to provide optimal care in a productive timeframe.
Promote a positive image throughout the organization and community by providing cooperative and courteous service to all customers, patients, families, visitors, physicians, and associates.
Interpret lab data and notify MD, pharmacy, or other departments for any needed changes in treatment modality.
Complete department charges, supply charges, and revisit data accurately and promptly to ensure compliance.
Participate in quality improvement activities.
Coordinate and assist with in-patient wound care as needed.

Requirements

Experience: 2 years recent experience with Medical/surgical patients.

Education:

License & Certification:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or compact state
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
