Job Responsibilities

Supports, evaluates, prioritizes, and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift.
Serves as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence.
Makes assignments for staff to meet patient care needs and for incoming patients.
Monitors effectiveness and completion of unit assignments.
Evaluates staffing by considering mix of caregivers, patient volumes, patient acuity, and staff availability.
Demonstrates timely and effective communication skills in daily interactions during shifts.
Proactively improves quality of services provided and patient care outcomes.
Serves as unit champion and resource for quality and patient safety initiatives.
Acts as a role model for exceptional customer service and facilitates service recovery efforts.
Improves job performance of staff through mentoring and training.
Troubleshoots issues requiring immediate resolution and informs nurse manager/director.
Takes patient care assignment as needed and serves as preceptor or in other roles.
Represents unit or nursing department on committees or task forces as assigned.
Reinforces the organization vision, mission, and values through role model behavior.

Requirements

Experience: Must have functioned in an RN role for a minimum of 1 year clinical experience; 1 year of ICU experience required (prefer Neuro ICU experience)

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred

License & Certification:

Valid current Arizona Nursing License
Required certification in area of clinical specialty within 3 years from ANCC or other approved credentialing entity (i.e. critical care: CCRN)

Schedule:

Must be able to work variable shifts, holidays, and/or weekends
