Assist with maintaining a safe and hazard-free environment by observing and documenting patient behavior.
Conduct patient room searches and report unsafe conditions.
Provide emotional and physical support to patients.
Perform or assist with the admission of new patients, gathering routine information for nursing assessment.
Search patients and belongings for contraband and document belongings.
Orient patients and families to the facility and policies.
Escort patients to off-unit appointments using therapeutic interventions.
Encourage patients to participate in recreational activities and group therapies.
Lead activity and conversation groups as part of supportive therapy.
Assist in the development of patient behavioral expectations.
Function as a preceptor to new Psychiatric Technicians.
Assist with training and quality assurance programs.
Provide educational in-service to coworkers annually.
Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams and assist with treatment planning.

Ability to recognize adverse medication reactions and report them.
Ability to assess potentially harmful behaviors and report to the Registered Nurse.
Interpersonal skills to build trust with patients.
Knowledge of group dynamics for leading therapy groups.
Knowledge of lifespan growth and development principles.

Experience: Six months of behavioral health or direct patient care experience.
