Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
Assist in setup and operation of hemodialysis machines.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Support the organization's Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Activities.
Assist health care members in providing patient-specific detailed education regarding dialysis adequacy measures.
Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their wellbeing since their last treatment.
Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform vascular access cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated.
Obtain necessary pre and post-treatment vital signs and weight.
Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders and monitor patients’ response.
Document all relevant functions and treatment parameters in the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet.
Report any significant information or changes in patient condition to the registered nurse or supervisor.
Conduct machine safety checks according to facility policy.
Assist in the training of applicable direct patient care staff.
Maintain environmental integrity by ensuring all areas are safe and clean.
Participate in infection control audits and reinforce infection control education.
Liaison with appropriate staff to provide the best patient experience.
Assist with coordination of patient care transition in the Transitional Care Unit.

Experience: Previous patient care experience preferred

Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. required
