Job Responsibilities
- Provide patient care as assigned, under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or a physician.
- Practice in compliance with regulatory standards and adhere to hospital policy and procedures in the performance of duties.
- Perform ongoing patient observations per patient acuity.
- Recognize, respond and report changes in patient condition to RN.
- Recognize the need for interventions and implement appropriate processes to meet patients age-specific needs while under the direction of an RN.
- Perform, prioritize and document patient care tasks with education and competency documented.
- Accurately follow the plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of RN.
- Facilitate timely physician evaluation and intervention.
- Participate in unit-specific quality assurance activities as requested.
- Demonstrate principles of infection control; collaborate with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.
- Assist in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
- Demonstrate competence in performing critical skills according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
- Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Complete required education assignments annually.
- Work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
