Job Responsibilities

Supervises staff and ensures patient safety and efficient resource utilization.
Mentors unit staff, especially recent hires.
Plans, coordinates, and directs quality patient care.
Provides and coordinates in-services and continuing education for clinical staff.
Participates in Performance Improvement (PI) activities.
Collects data to assess employee performance and participates in staff evaluations.
Coordinates unit activities for staffing and patient assignments.
Leads during crisis and emergency situations for effective response.
Promotes patient flow including timely discharges and admissions.
Ensures adherence to established protocols, policies, and procedures.
Serves as a clinical resource for staff and in complex patient care situations.
Implements current techniques to enhance patient care processes.
Regularly rounds on patients, physicians, and employees focusing on safety and satisfaction.
Maintains orientation and competency assessment records for staff.
Ensures compliance with quality standards and regulatory agencies.
Communicates verbally and in writing to appropriate personnel.
Prepares and presents staffing and outcomes metrics with action plans.
Oversees employee hiring, training, and performance management.
Handles compliance and behavioral standards as outlined by DCH Health System.

Requirements

Experience: 2 years experience as a registered nurse required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Related Field, or actively working on a Bachelor's degree with completion within 4 years of hire.

License & Certification:

Current Alabama RN license required.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training required.
