Job Responsibilities
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments/reviews.
- Order psychopharmacological interventions to assist in client care and treatment.
- Perform client history and physical exams, diagnostic evaluations, and clinical risk assessments.
- Provide ongoing psychopharmacological treatment to clients.
- Conduct collateral consultations with community providers, including methadone clinics and specialty medical services.
- Consult and educate court systems, community providers, and agencies regarding treatment commitments.
- Establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external contacts by holding regular meetings and training sessions.
- Complete required data collection forms and maintain accurate statistics on work products and clinical assessments.
- Stay informed on developments, trends, policies, and procedures in substance use treatment and mental health systems.
- Maintain continuing education for current licensure and board certification.
- Participate in policy development discussions, committees, and workgroups.
- Provide clinical consultation on problematic cases when requested.
- Mentor and supervise mental health professional trainees as assigned.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Knowledge of principles and practices of practical nursing.
- Ability to relate well with staff, patients, and individuals.
- Experience with public or private community-based organizations for substance use rehabilitation.
- Skills in conducting biopsychosocial assessments and prescribing mental health medications.
- Thoroughness, independence, and strong written and oral communication skills.
- Competence in maintaining accurate records and handling confidential information.
Preferred Skills
- Current knowledge of developments, trends, and policies in the substance use treatment and mental health systems.
- Ability to work cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of methods in general medicine and care plan documentation.
- Ability to recognize medical conditions and refer for appropriate care.
- Bilingual or multilingual fluency.
Requirements
Experience: At least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience as a registered nurse.
Education: Graduate degree with a major in Nursing may be substituted for a maximum of one year of required experience.
License & Certification:
- Current and valid registration as a professional nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
- Current and valid authorization to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
