Job Responsibilities
- Provide basic bedside care to long term care residents under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Physician.
- Administer and control medication and treatments as ordered by physician.
- Monitor the medical condition of residents and report changes to the Unit Manager.
- Ensure accuracy in recording on resident medical records.
- Maintain all required reports, records, and statistics as directed by the Unit Manager.
- Provide direct resident care and evaluate outcomes; adjust nursing care processes as indicated.
- Monitor and supervise the performance of CNAs on the unit.
- Assist physicians with examinations, procedures, and other processes related to direct resident care.
- Support physicians, co-workers, and families in times of stress or crisis.
- Participate in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops for professional growth.
- Orient, instruct, and train assigned personnel.
- Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Current New York State LPN License
- Basic bedside care
Preferred Skills
- One (1) year medical-surgical skilled nursing home experience
Requirements
Experience: On the job training provided; One (1) year medical-surgical skilled nursing home experience preferred.
Education: Graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing, required.
License & Certification:
- Basic Life Support Certification
- Current New York State LPN License
Schedule:
- Full-time 37.5 or Part-time 15 hours per week
- All shifts potentially available
- Includes hours every other weekend and some holidays
