Provide education to patients and families on disease processes, treatment, diagnostic testing, and patient responsibilities.
Perform initial assessments and reassessments with appropriate documentation.
Notify MD of any abnormal findings.
Obtain laboratory samples per policy (e.g., wound cultures).
Assess wounds and apply ordered dressings per policy (e.g., Una Boots, Combiderm, Aquacel).
Document all treatments on appropriate forms/computer.
Coordinate patient schedule to provide optimal care in a productive timeframe.
Promote a positive image throughout the organization and community by providing cooperative and courteous service.
Interpret lab data and notify MD, pharmacy, or other departments for any needed changes in treatment modality.
Complete department charges, supply charges, and revisit data accurately and promptly.
Participate in quality improvement activities.
Coordinate and assist with in-patient wound care as needed.

Experience: 2 years recent experience with Medical/surgical patients.

Education:

License & Certification:

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or compact state
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
