Job Responsibilities

Assess human responses and plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for individuals or families.
Take full responsibility for all actions as a licensed nurse and be accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.
Provide leadership in a professional practice setting.
Contribute to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill level.
Assign duties and lunches for staff when performing charge role.
Ensure maintenance of a safe environment.
Provide verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance to peers.
Create a culture in which taking risks is safe and expected.
Participate on interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care or health services.
Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
Participate in department specific quality initiatives.
Supervise, delegate, and evaluate assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient plan of care.
Derive culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family, and other health care providers.
Analyze the health status of individuals and families and determine patient care needs.
Assess patient reports of changes in condition, notify physicians/supervisors, and document accordingly.
Accept assignments outside primary unit and perform duties within individualized competency.
Commit to continuous lifelong learning and participate in professional organizations.
Seek formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills.
Participate in systematic peer review and obtain feedback regarding one’s practice.
Continuously evaluate and assess patient and family satisfaction.
Promote compassionate communication that is patient and family centered.
Attempt to resolve patient/family concerns.
Utilize effective time management skills to complete assigned duties within established work shift.
