Job Responsibilities
- Assess human responses and plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for individuals or families.
- Take full responsibility for all actions as a licensed nurse and be accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.
- Provide leadership in a professional practice setting.
- Contribute to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
- Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill level.
- Assign duties and lunches for staff when performing charge role.
- Ensure maintenance of a safe environment.
- Provide verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance to peers.
- Create a culture in which taking risks is safe and expected.
- Participate on interdisciplinary teams to evaluate clinical care or health services.
- Promote patient safety initiatives, such as National Patient Safety Goals.
- Participate in department specific quality initiatives.
- Supervise, delegate, and evaluate assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient plan of care.
- Derive culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family, and other health care providers.
- Analyze the health status of individuals and families and determine patient care needs.
- Assess patient reports of changes in condition, notify physicians/supervisors, and document accordingly.
- Accept assignments outside primary unit and perform duties within individualized competency.
- Commit to continuous lifelong learning and participate in professional organizations.
- Seek formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical and professional skills.
- Participate in systematic peer review and obtain feedback regarding one’s practice.
- Continuously evaluate and assess patient and family satisfaction.
- Promote compassionate communication that is patient and family centered.
- Attempt to resolve patient/family concerns.
- Utilize effective time management skills to complete assigned duties within established work shift.

- Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
- CPR certification
