Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the planning and delivery of care utilizing nursing processes: assessment, implementation, and evaluation.
Oversees the plan of care and utilizes effective problem-solving strategies.
Supports and upholds quality standards of a Magnet designated hospital and Patient Bill of Rights.
Practices under the supervision of the Nursing Manager/Director.
Provides compassionate and family-centered care.
Ensures completion of patient admission, history, assessment, & pain reassessment.
Accurately prepares & completes the discharge planning process per department and hospital policies & procedures.
Conducts handoff with oncoming RN utilizing SBAR and documents in Cerner.
Plans, implements, and documents the plan of care in collaboration with other disciplines and services.
Provides nursing care including IV site monitoring, suctioning, specimen collection, and assists medical team with specific procedures.
Follows physician's orders and administers medication adhering to six rights of medication administration.
Collaborates and rounds with a multi-disciplinary team during daily care planning rounds.
Utilizes electronic innovations to provide efficient patient care.
Attends to patient call lights in a manner that promotes patient safety per hospital policy.
Reports critical values or change in status to the physicians and documents clinician notification in Cerner.
Ensures proper and safe wound care as required by Wound Care Policy and Procedures.
Completes accurate and timely documentation in the patient's electronic health record.
Communicates with patients and families to review the plan of care, provide education, and uses appropriate translation methods when necessary.
Promotes an 'error free' working environment by providing high-quality safe care per hospital policies.
Responsible for providing a safe environment for co-workers by placing isolation/precaution signs.
Creates incident reports for hospital acquired conditions and adverse events/medication errors.
Assesses all body systems, ensures safe efficient care, absence of medication errors, and prevention of falls.

Required Skills

Core Skills

RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC)
CPR BLS certification from the American Heart Association
PALS certification from the American Heart Association required within 2 years of hire
BSN degree or currently enrolled in a BSN program
1 year RN experience in a medical surgical environment for pediatrics preferred
Proficiency in computers and Electronic Health Record (EHR)
Strong time management and prioritization skills
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to adapt to changing environments

Preferred Skills

National certification preferably within 2-5 years of hire
Ability to create a family-centered care environment
Ability to float to various nursing units while maintaining clinical excellence

Requirements

Experience: 1 year RN experience in a medical surgical environment for pediatrics preferred

Education: BSN degree or currently enrolled in a BSN degree program

License & Certification:

RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC)
CPR BLS Certification
PALS Certification required within 2 years of hire
