Job Title: Pre/Post-Op Clinical Nurse - Feinberg PACU, Full-time, Mid-shift/Evenings

Position: Registered Nurse in the Feinberg Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $39.00 - $60.57 (Hourly Rate)

Shift: Three 12-hour shifts per week, 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop an individualized, age-specific, culturally sensitive nursing plan of care based on the nursing process.
  • Incorporate the role of patient advocate into the plan of care.
  • Use a team approach to achieve daily patient-centered individualized care goals.
  • Acknowledge and value the contributions of the patient's significant others in the care plan.
  • Identifies potential conflict situations and facilitates resolution using established communication channels.
  • Promote and protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients.
  • Participate in research-related activities including evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Practice safe post-operative care which includes assessment, identifying potential complications, and discharge teaching.
  • Identify potential pre-anesthetic surgical risk factors.
  • Enhance clinical expertise through continuing education opportunities and by obtaining specialty certification when eligible.
  • Share knowledge and expertise through education of team members, patients, and students.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking by integrating theoretical knowledge to pose relevant clinical questions.
  • Evaluate and document patient responses to nursing interventions in the health record.
  • Delegate and supervise interventions to implement the plan of care.
  • Convey complete, timely, and accurate information during handoff.
  • Participate in volunteer initiatives annually.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
  • Current CPR recognition through the American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS recognition through the American Heart Association
  • Analytic ability (conceptual and quantitative)
  • Strong oral, listening, and written communication skills
  • Strong human relation skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in specific clinical areas
  • Nursing specialty certification, if eligible

Requirements

Experience: At least two years of ICU, PACU, or ER nursing work experience

Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing or higher

License & Certification:

  • Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license
  • Current CPR recognition
  • Current ACLS recognition

Schedule:

  • Three 12-hour shifts per week, with weekend, holiday, and on-call requirements
