Job Responsibilities

Deliver patient care for same-day surgeries in a fast-paced unit.
Engage in Pre-Op duties, including assistance with regional nerve blocks and initiation and monitoring of IVs.
Provide anesthesia support and deliver pre-operative instructions.
Conduct assessments for patients pre-operatively.
Oversee PACU phase 1 and 2 recovery from anesthesia post-operatively.
Provide reports to receiving inpatient units.
Update patients’ families regarding their loved ones' conditions.
Offer comprehensive discharge education to patients.

Required Skills

Core Skills

PACU nursing experience
Knowledge of ASPAN standards
BLS or CPR certification

Preferred Skills

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
ACLS and PALS certification
Experience in ICU or Emergency Room nursing

Requirements

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in Post Anesthesia Care Unit PACU nursing; expertise in ICU or Emergency Room nursing is strongly considered.

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.

License & Certification:

Valid and current Connecticut registered nurse licensure
BLS or CPR certification
ACLS and PALS certification (preferred or available within six months of hire)

Schedule:

Full-Time – 40 hours/week
Monday thru Friday, no weekend or holiday commitment
Five 8-hour varying shifts; 5:00 am to 1:30 pm
Minimal on-call requirement; frequency will be once per 7-week schedule
