Job Responsibilities
- Assure the provision of effective, high quality patient care.
- Manage clinical nursing practice and patient care delivery.
- Share management of human, fiscal, and other resources.
- Develop personnel and ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
- Participate in strategic planning and foster interdisciplinary relationships.
- Utilize the nursing process in both direct and indirect delivery of age-specific patient care.
- Serve as a liaison for patients, families, physicians, and nursing staff.
- Support System and Nursing Strategic Plans and Relationship-Based Care.
- Demonstrate leadership and organizational skills.
- Monitor resources and ensure compliance to policies and standards of care.
- Make rounds on all patients, including high risk or complex patients.
- Ensure accuracy in the medication process.
- Provide ongoing communication regarding management issues and goals.
- Identify urgent/non-urgent situations and participate in problem resolution.
- Assist in monitoring and managing budgets.
- Facilitate unit-level performance improvement activities.
- Serve as a clinical resource/educator for licensed and unlicensed assistive personnel.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, and performance evaluation of staff.
- Ensure consistent application of hospital rules and regulations.
- Support opportunities for professional growth and development.
- Offer support and feedback to peers.
- Participate in unit-based shared leadership.
- Respond to emergency codes as needed.
- Maintain privacy and security of confidential patient information.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Registered Nursing license in Maryland
- BLS certification
- Clinical experience in specialty (3-5 years)
- Knowledge of nursing practice trends
- Ability to assess age-specific patient needs
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred or in progress)
- Certification in specialty
Requirements
Experience: 3-5 years of clinical experience within the specialty
Education: Bachelor's in Nursing preferred (or in progress)
License & Certification:
- Registered Nursing license in Maryland
- Health Care Provider BLS certification
