Job Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, facilitate, and evaluate the coordination of patient care according to unit/department policies and procedures.
  • Provide clinical leadership and apply effective problem solving strategies to improve patient care.
  • Oversee and administer direct care to immune-compromised patients including central line/IV site monitoring, lab draws, and nursing intervention monitoring.
  • Verify patient Roadmap, protocol and orders for correctness and accuracy upon admission.
  • Ensure completion of patient admission history and accurately complete the discharge planning process.
  • Plan, implement, and document the plan of care in collaboration with other disciplines.
  • Administer chemotherapy and patient medications, ensuring adherence to medication administration policies.
  • Monitor and provide patient interventions such as electrolyte infusions, sepsis monitoring, and blood transfusions.
  • Utilize electronic innovations for efficient patient care and ensure patient safety by attending to call lights promptly.
  • Ensure safe analgesics/narcotics administration, adherence to restraint policies, and proper wound care.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and support workflow enhancement projects.
  • Coordinate patient care on designated shift, ensuring accountability for patient outcomes.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Registered Nurse Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC)
  • CPR certification from American Heart Healthcare Provider
  • PALS certification from American Heart Association
  • Aphon Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course within 1 year
  • 2-4 years of RN experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Proficiency in computers and Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Preferred Skills

  • BSN degree or currently enrolled in a BSN program
  • National certification as a Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPHON/CPON/BMTCN) preferably within 5 years of hire
  • Pediatric RN experience in Hematology/Oncology acute care setting
  • Ability to oversee and optimize department flow in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to positively influence team members and hold self and others accountable

Requirements

Experience: 2-4 years of RN experience

Education: BSN degree or currently enrolled in a BSN program

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC)
  • CPR certification
  • PALS certification
  • Aphon Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Course
