Job Responsibilities
- Manages comprehensive and individualized care for cardiology patients and their families in the inpatient phase of hospitalization.
- Completes daily rounds; conducts consults and/or pre-procedure evaluations.
- Completes integrated assessments and orders additional tests or consults as appropriate.
- Performs and communicates results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines.
- Consults and communicates with clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings.
- Documents clinical evaluations and findings in the patient's medical record.
- Facilitates patient discharge by coordinating necessary services and tests for outpatient follow-up.
- Develops comprehensive individualized plans of care for cardiology patients.
- Identifies unstable or complex cardiology patient care situations and facilitates interventions.
- Recognizes emergency situations and initiates effective emergency care.
- Coordinates follow-ups, procedures, and tests in the ambulatory setting.
- Demonstrates critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning in clinical decision-making.
- Utilizes teaching/learning theory in providing education to staff, students, patients, and families.
- Participates in community programs and distributes relevant literature.
- Documents care interventions and evaluations per hospital policies.

Preferred Skills
- ACNP certification
- Experience in acute care or cardiology
Requirements
Experience: Preferably acute care or cardiology experience; eligible new graduates will be considered.
Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree as a Medical/Surgical Physician Assistant.
License & Certification:
- National Certification by recognized APRN Certification Centers
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia
- BLS Certification
- National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants certification (for PA)
