Position: Registered Professional Nurse

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $34.36/hr. to $76.13/hr.

Shift: Flex Nights, 7p-730a & 11p-730a; e/o wknd

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and updates the patient’s plan of care based on on-going assessment of the patient and input from the patient’s family.
  • Shares information and collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care.
  • Verifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by performing interventions as prescribed by the provider and documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Engages and obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan.
  • Recognizes symptoms, establishes priorities, and responds to patient’s changing needs.
  • Engages support personnel by delegating appropriate tasks per the Illinois State Nurse Practice Act and provides support and feedback.
  • Advocates for patients, families, and their significant others, the community, and the nursing profession.
  • Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based research, current standards of practice and clinical experience to provide 'quality' patient care as measured by established nursing quality standards and other governing/accrediting health care bodies.
  • Assumes role of Charge Nurse when assigned, utilizing appropriate resources and tools.
  • Collaborates with other nurses to identify, promote, and provide positive learning experiences for staff and students.
  • Serves as preceptor and/or resource to other nursing, support staff and students.
  • Takes responsibility for continued professional growth/development by identification of learning needs and initiates strategies to meet such needs.
  • Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Eligibility for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
  • Current BLS/CPR and/or other required unit specific certifications.
  • Current advanced cardiac life support certification or within 6 months of hire for main hospital.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history.

Preferred Skills

  • Minimum one (1) to two (2) years of recent PICU, NICU, ICU, MedSurg or ED experience preferred.
  • BSN, MSN, or DNP Graduate of an accredited nursing program preferred.
  • STABLE certification must be obtained within 3 months of hire.

Requirements

Experience: New grads who have completed/passed NCLEX exam are also encouraged to apply.

Education: BSN or MSN or DNP Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.

License & Certification:

  • Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois
  • BLS/CPR
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (within 6 months of hire)
  • STABLE certification (within 3 months of hire)
