Job Responsibilities

Demonstrates the use of nursing process as a problem-solving model; utilizes knowledge and experience to anticipate and plan to meet patient and family needs.
Conducts nursing assessments focused on areas productive for specific patient populations.
Recognizes subtle changes in the clinical situation; evaluates and alters the plan of care as needed.
Prioritizes and organizes patient care ensuring follow-through with planned care.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for patients.
Applies current literature/research findings and critical thinking skills for sound clinical decisions.
Enhances patient satisfaction during interactions by respecting patients' rights.
Develops and maintains therapeutic nurse/patient relationships.
Conducts hourly rounding on patients.
Communicates utilizing SBAR in all hand-off situations.
Documents patient care including assessments and implementation following hospital policies.
Anticipates variables affecting patient comfort and modifies interventions accordingly.
Assists patients/families to maximize their sense of control in recovery.
Meets learning needs of patients and families for positive outcomes.
Coordinates interdisciplinary discharge planning with Care Managers.
Reviews orders and communicates changes in patient condition to physicians.
Evaluates nursing interventions and documents outcomes.
Plans, supervises, instructs, and evaluates ancillary nursing personnel.
Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to dress code.
Ensures a safe and clean environment that complies with regulatory standards.
Participates in quality and performance improvement activities.
Assists with the orientation of new employees and the set-up of patient areas.
Provides basic hygiene and ADLs to patients.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience or one year of Med/Surg/Telemetry nursing experience preferred.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree preferred; Associate in Nursing or Nursing Diploma, or equivalent.

License & Certification:

Current California Nursing license
Basic EKG competence
Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card within 90 days of hire
