Job Responsibilities
- Utilizes clinical experience to assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor and evaluate options for healthcare services/benefits.
- Gathers clinical information and applies appropriate clinical criteria/guideline, policy, procedure, and clinical judgment for coverage determination.
- Communicates with providers and other parties to facilitate care/treatment.
- Identifies members for referral opportunities to integrate with other products, services, and programs.
- Promotes quality effectiveness of healthcare services and benefit utilization.
- Consults and lends expertise to internal and external constituents in the utilization/benefit management function.
- Performs close inspection of handwritten and computer-generated documents.
- Multitasks, prioritizes, and adapts to a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Demonstrates proficiency with computer skills, including navigating multiple systems.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Proficiency in using computers
Preferred Skills
- Managed Care experience, especially in Utilization Management
- Clinical experience in med-surg or specialty area
Requirements
Experience: 2+ years as a Registered Nurse in adult acute care/critical care setting
Education: Associates Degree required; BSN preferred
License & Certification:
- Active, current and unrestricted RN licensure in state of residence
Schedule:
- Work schedules will include weekends, holidays, and evening hours
