Job Responsibilities

Provides direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatment.
Conducts initial physiological needs assessment on patients upon admission and performs shift psychosocial needs assessment during each shift.
Documents patient care given.
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
Assists patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
Collaborates across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
Prepares, administers, assesses, and documents the effectiveness of medication administration.
Evaluates patient response to procedures and interventions on a physical and psychological basis.
Assesses patient's psychological response to hospitalization and diagnosis each shift.
Advocates for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Requirements

Experience:

Education: Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact State required; Bachelor's degree preferred

License & Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required
